While First National Bank has stated that it has not taken any position towards disregarding applications for loans by public service employees on strike, investigations by Mmegi tell a different story.

FNB Director of Marketing and Communications Bomolemo Selaledi said; "Guided by the Bank's credit policy, an application for a loan is assessed using set qualifying criteria, therefore, every application case is assessed on its merits," Selaledi said.  

Selaledi was responding to reports that some striking employees were denied loans by the Mahalapye branch on the grounds that there is no guarantee of a regular salary for the next month.
