Kweneng West has been found to be the most poverty-stricken part of the country according to the Minister for Presidential Affairs and Public Administration, Mokgweetsi Masisi.

During his first visit to Kweneng District Council yesterday, Minister Masisi said that Kweneng West has more poor people than any other district in Botswana. He said that in Kweneng West 48.5 percent of the people live below the poverty datum line (PDI), making the district the worst hit area in the country.

Masisi said that the district has since been prioritised for assistance after previous intervention efforts in the district have not produced any results, although progress has been made in other parts of the country.
