Kutuku man guilty of attempted rape

JWANENG: Kelapile Motshoboje of Kutuku settlement will soon learn his fate after Magistrate Basetsana Keakantse convicted him of attempted rape in a three-year old case.

The convict was initially charged with rape, but Keakantse found that no actual penetration had actually taken place. The court heard that on February 8, 2014, Motshoboje spent time with the victim and her family before leaving to the lands.

He later returned in the evening whereupon he slipped into the victim’s blankets and attempted to rape her. otshoboje ran off after his victim screamed, but was identified by both the victim and her daughter. A DNA test from the forensic laboratory later linked him to the offence.
