Khama's compromise list to avoid conflict in BDP

Botswana Democratic Party president Ian Khama has asked party chairman Daniel Kwelagobe to compile a compromise list of capable people for the central committee elections to be held in July.

Addressing a rally in Molepolole over the weekend, Khama said the party agreed last year March, at its national council, that to avoid factional wars within the BDP, they should work with a compromise list in an election to avoid infighting, as people jostle for positions.

"The media has been publishing lists of people said to be standing for the central committee. Even Kentse Rammidi's name has been mentioned in one of them...As far as I know; the only list so far, is the one that I have asked chairman Kwelagobe to draw. If you know anyone who is skilled enough in the party, please forward their names to the chairman. Then we will take that list and market it to the BDP as we go to the congress. Ga ba gana bata gana and if they take it they will vote for them," he said.
