Khama to dissolve Parliament in August

President Ian Khama is expected to dissolve Parliament at the end of the next session that starts next week and is expected to run to the end of August.

"Parliament will, after this meeting, be dissolved by the President to pave way for general elections in terms of Constitutional provisions," the Principal Public Relations Officer of the National Assembly, Redman Josiah, said yesterday.

The government will bring six bills to the session, among them the Constitutional Amendment Bill that seeks to increase the number of Specially Elected MPs from four to eight towards gender equality. The bill comes after a motion to that effect by the MP for Mahalapye East, Botlhogile Tshireletso, last March.
