Khama has usurped role of social workers - Saleshando

MOCHUDI: President Ian Khama's predilection for donating blankets, radio sets and fat cakes has earned him the caricature of one usurping the role of social workers (commonly known as bo-mmaboipelego).

Addressing a rally here yesterday, the president of the Botswana Congress Party (BCP), Dumelang Saleshando, said social workers in Botswana are no longer doing their jobs because the president has supplanted them.

If an evaluation of African heads of state was carried out, Khama would fare badly "because we don't know whether he is president or a social worker," Saleshando said, "O itirile mmaboipelego."
