Khama Guest of Honour at Kenya's 50th Independence celebrations

President Ian Khama will today depart for Kenya, where he will be a Guest of Honour at the country's 50th Anniversary of Independence celebrations. This is according to the media release from the Office of the President.

Khama is travelling at the at the invitation of Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta whose father, Jomo Kenyatta five decades ago in 1964 invited Ian Khama’s father, Sir Seretse Khama to be the Guest of Honour at Kenya’s first anniversary of Independence.

The Republic of Kenya became independent on the 12th December 1963.
