Speaking after the fourth edition of the Yarona FM Fatboy Challenge over the weekend, the President advised against eating the main meal at dinner.

He said the main meal should be eaten at lunch because after dinner people go to sleep and the energy from the food is not used up. He encouraged Batswana to maintain a healthy lifestyle saying that: "Any doctor will tell you that being fit keeps you in good health and helps develop you mentally".

He refuted the general belief that obesity is caused by lack of exercise. The 58-year-old President said that losing weight is 70 percent dieting and 30 percent exercise. He said that at lunch, he eats either fish, beef or chicken with cooked or raw vegetables. "In the evening I play soccer and then have fruits and vegetables for dinner," he said. Khama who is very active for his age, revealed that he weighs only 77kg. He said that he maintains such a lean weight because of his diet. His typical morning diet consists of either fruit, yoghurt, egg white, muffin or cereal. The meal is followed by one and a half hours of exercise.  Khama blames Batswana's weight problem on lack of care in what they eat. He said that the weight issue is something that starts from childhood. "Most children are over-weight because of eating unhealthy foods and sweets," he said. He added that children who grow up over-weight are likely to struggle with health issues as adults.
