MOLEPOLOLE: Suspended president of the Customary Court and former Bakwena regent, Kgosikwena Sebele has failed in his bid for a stay of proceedings pending his appeal against stock theft charges.

Yesterday, Molepolole magistrate, Dumisane Basupi dismissed an application by Sebele saying that the Bakwena royal has a case to answer. Sebele, through his lawyer Shame Taimu, tried to persuade the magistrate to stay the proceedings while he pursues an application at the High Court.

Taimu told the court that he has prepared the High Court appeal and they are not ready to proceed with the case. He prayed that the magistrate would stay the proceedings on the basis that they are still awaiting the written court proceedings to forward to the High Court.
