Kgatleng MPs welcome BHC developments

Two Kgatleng legislators - Gilbert Mangole and Isaac Mabiletsa - both support the Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) developments in Kgatleng District.

BHC has said that it will continue with developments in the district despite complaints raised by the Bakgatla tribe. To date the corporation has completed 876 units in places like Gaborone, Serowe, Mahalapye, Lobatse and Ghanzi.

However, Mabiletsa said he would have no problem if all the people on the waiting list were given land. He said he is worried because there are outstanding applications at the Mochudi Main Landboard, Oodi, and Mathubudukwane sub landboards. Further he revealed that people from his constituency, who were called for interview five years ago, have not yet been allocated plots. He said the land should have been allocated to Bana ba Bakgatla, adding that it's obvious that the houses will go to people who do not have accommodation in Gaborone. However, Mabiletsa noted that Bakgatla are looking for their basic needs because they can't rent, hence the problem to access houses from BHC, which is aiming at making a profit.
