Kgatleng Council chair in tribalistic war

The Kgatleng Disctrict Council chairman Tona Mooketsi has attacked Kgatleng East legislator Isaac Mabiletsa for joining the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) because it is predominatly Bayei and Babirwa.

The two ethnic groups are viewed as minorities when compared against Bakgatla, a tribe which both Mooketsi and Mabiletsa belong. In retaliation, Mabiletsa has called on the chairman, who is also the Botswana National Front Youth League (BNFYL) president to quit politics because of his tribalistic attitude.

The utterances were made at a rally held in Tlokweng where Mabiletsa was described as confused, as a result, he joined the BCP. Mooketsi wondered why Mabiletsa decided to join such a party while he is a Mokgatla. In an interview, Mabiletsa expressed shock and labelled Mooketsi a tribalistic civic leader and appealed to him to leave politics immediately.
