Kgari still firmly in saddle

A week after a meeting in Ntloedibe Ward in Molepolole called to nullify Kgosi Kgari Sechele's chieftainship, little or nothing has happened so far.

Kgosi Ngwanaamotho Kgosientsho and George Moeng called the meeting to announce that they planned to topple Kgari, on the grounds that he was out of order.  They accused Kgari of appointing his "enemy" as his deputy and taking the chieftainship away.  Kgosientsho expressed disappointment at what he said was lack of consultation with elders and arrogance by Kgari. He said the late Mohumagadi Gagoumakwe warned Kgari to be careful in his position or the rightful heirs would take over the chieftainship.

However, Kgari declared yesterday that he did not take the threats made by the two men seriously and that the meeting was nothing but a sick joke.  Though he did not attend the meeting, Kgari said that he saw clips of the meeting on Botswana Television (Btv). "Yes, I saw the clips on TV but I have already forgotten what was said because it wasn't anything to worry about," he said.  He added that he has no intention of taking action against any of the two men but will be waiting for them to show up at his office.
