Kerala community in Botswana donates wheelchairs

Kerala residents from southern India living in Botswana, through the organisation - Botswana Kerala Samajan - have bought 10 wheelchairs for the physically challenged people.

"Kerala Samajan has been active in organising cultural events and festivals for the past several years. These occasions always cater for all religions of the state, which is noted for the communal harmony prevailing there. A big chunk of the proceeds from such programmes has always been utilised for charity work in Botswana," the president of the organisation Antony Pulickal Philipose said in a statement.

The organisation has worked in association with the Office of the President (OP) and the funds for this gesture were generated from a musical show titled Suvarna Sandhya or Golden Evening.
