Kenewendo wants age of consent raised to 18

New specially-elected MP, Bogolo Kenewendo has tabled a motion in which she wants the age of consent increased from 16 to 18.

The motion wants Parliament to resolve to amend the provisions of the Penal Code (Cap 08:01) to be in line with the provisions of the Children’s Act (Cap 28: 01).

In a brief interview, the youthful legislator said the motion would “probably only  be deliberated on next year during budget session”.
