KDC speeds loan collection rate

Self Help Housing Agency (SHHA) loan arrears in Kgatleng stood at P628,194.63 at the end of the first quarter. This was revealed this week by Kgatleng District Council (KDC) chairperson, Tona Mooketsi, during a full council meeting.

He said there was an increase in the rate of collection following the issuance of summons to the defaulters in January 2014 and that since the issuance of summons, arrears reduced from P664 ,829.95 in December 2013 to P628,194. 63 in June 2014. He said this reflected a reduction of P36,635. Mooketsi said that the recent suspension of issuance of summons to defaulters has however had a negative impact in their collection efforts.

He further said 12 villages already have operational committees, adding that issues of childcare are now reported and dealt with efficiently. Mooketsi added that there are currently 12 cases have been reported, which include matters of child abuse, adoption and child custody.
