KDC needs P13m to revamp its fleet

Kweneng District Council (KDC) needs close to P13 million to replace its fleet, as a cost cutting measure, Mmegi is informed.

In a report to special finance performance management committee on recurrent budget of the 2011/2012 early this year, the council is said to be making efforts at "making additions to its plant fleet to cut down on outsourcing most of its civil works due to expenses incurred," reads the report in part.

The KDC wants to replace 40 vehicles with new ones. Some of the vehicles it seeks to replace are a tipper truck bought in 1994, a refuse trailer (1999), a 4x4 Benz bowser (1998) and an MF tractor (1996).
