KBL calls for sober driving over Christmas

Kgalagadi Breweries Limited (KBL) has advised motorists against drinking and driving during the festive season.

Corporate affairs and strategy director, Thapelo Letsholo, says motorists need to be alert at all times and be able to react quickly. Research, he says, shows that the reaction of an inebriated driver may be reduced by up to 30 percent.

Even pedestrians need to exercise diligence whenever they cross roads or walk along roads. "It is very crucial that all motorists adhere to road safety standards and comply with road traffic laws," Letsholo says. "Motorists need to heed the advice and drive responsibly in order to arrive alive."  During the festive season, road safety should be the first priority for everyone, especially motorists and pedestrians, in order to avoid accidents, he pointed out. Police reports show that the greatest cause of road accidents in Botswana is driver negligence, he said.
