Gaborone attorney, Gabriel Kanjabanga has threatened to sue his party, the Botswana National Front (BNF) for failing to declare him the parliamentary candidate for Gaborone North.

Last week, Kanjabanga wrote a letter to the party and said if the matter is not solved within 14 days, he will go to court. Kanjabanga is challenging the legitimacy of Lemogang Ntime's candidacy in the constituency.

Kanjabanga says that last year, he submitted his political profile to the Gaborone North Constituency Elections Committee in a bid to stand for parliamentary primary elections. He said no other name was proffered to the committee and therefore he was the only candidate for Gaborone North constituency. He feels that it was not necessary to hold primary elections. He said that Ntime sought to transfer from Molepolole constituency to Gaborone North but his application was refuted by the general membership.
