Jostling for Merafhe's seat hots up?

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) activists in Mahalapye West are reported to have started lobbying for the constituency as the ailing Vice President Mompati Merafhe is expected to retire.

There are reports that Merafhe, who is the MP for the constituency, will announce his resignation from Parliament when he recovers. Sources said Merafhe, who has been unwell for quite sometime, is not intending to make a come back into office.

The sources said it is already an open secret in Mahalapye that Merafhe will retire from active politics, which is why the jostling for his position has already started.
