It's all systems go for the education system in Phikwe

SELEBI-PHIKWE: It seems like the Selebi-Phikwe Town Council (SPTC) is doing well to provide a superb education system in this town.

All the 11 primary schools in Selebi-Phikwe have 22 classrooms in line with the1994 National Revised Education Policy (NREP) requirements, SPTC Senior public relations officer, ogomoditse Gaokgethelwe says.

Gaokgethelwe told The Monitor last week that this means that the council has met all the NREP requirements and all primary schools have the prescribed number of classrooms. She stated that the only minor problem they are facing is overcrowding at Segomotso Primary School as it has since become evident that parents prefer to take their children to that school even those who stay as far away as Western area, leaving schools like Joseph Anderson Memorial with fewer learners. "Maintenance of all primary schools was done through Ipelegeng programme. The programme took those maintenance works since the focus was labour intensive," she said.
