The high court in Lobatse will tomorrow deliver verdict in the much-awaited judgment between suspended Botswana Democratic Party secretary general Gomolemo Motswaledi and President Ian Khama.

Last week Motswaledi and Khama's lawyers made submissions before a three panel judge of Chief Justice Julian Nganunu, Justice Ian Kirby and Justice Isaac Lesetedi. The focus quickly moves away from the lawyers and the protagonists and all attention now beams on the judges as their verdict could spell a political end for some and sweet champagne for others.

Motswaledi wants the court to quash his suspension, which will effectively return him to his elected position of secretary general and restore his position as the BDP parliamentary representative in the Gaborone Central constituency. His supporters believe that should the court cancel Khama's suspension it will give Motswaledi the political gravitas going into the October 16 general elections.
