Is Lerala mine harvesting Limpopo water illegally?

MARTINS DRIFT: The Water Affairs Department is to send a team of inspectors to investigate allegations that Lerala Diamond Mine is illegally getting its water supplies from the Limpopo River.

The department's director Dr Obolokile Obakeng made the announcement in the wake of Tuli Block farmers in downstream of Limpopo River's concerns that the mine has been illegally drawing water from the river to run its operations, hence lowering its water level.

During the Tuli Block farmers meeting with Botswana and South African governments in Martin's Drift on Saturday, farmers claimed that the mine has connected a pipeline from Limpopo in Tuli Block to supply water to the mine.
