Irked construction workers advised to open criminal case

Extension Two Magistrate, Abigail Masawi yesterday advised three construction workers, seeking to be refunded money they had paid to their union, to open a criminal case.

The three workers, among them Gopolang Mmereki who works for Mogomotsi Enterprises, were seeking payment from Botswana Construction and Workers Union (BCWU) and a certain Maggie Tlharape who was their representative at the union.

Magistrate Masawi instead advised the workers to open a criminal case against Tlharape because what she was doing - obtaining money from people - was a criminal offence.
