Effective April, monthly wages for the Ipelegeng Programme will be increased by P50, the Minister of Finance Peggy Serame said when she delivered the 2023 Budget Speech yesterday.
For supervisors, wages will be increased from P651 to P701 and from P567 to P617 for labourers. “To further support sustainable livelihoods, the allowances paid under various social welfare programmes have been reviewed. The Ipelegeng rate will be increased effective April (2023).
The revamped Ipelegeng Programme, which encompasses a skills development component and the high COVID-19 vaccination rate of 77.4%, are also some of the significant highlights of NDP11 worth noting,” Serame indicated.
The revamped Ipelegeng, budgeted for under the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development’s third largest share of the proposed Development Budget at P2.34 billion, is for the implementation of Social Protection Programmes including Remote Area Development plans.
