Ipelegeng will never release people from poverty - Mhotsha

The Botswana Federation of Trade Unions (BFTU) Secretary General, Gadzani Mhotsha, has urged all workers to stand in unison against all forms of injustices and deprivation regardless of the perpetrator.

"As the union rallying call states, 'United we stand and divided we fall'. So let us throw away all unnecessary encumbrances and unite for a common cause and as we all call for a living wage for decent work for all workers", he stated.

He told Mmegi that the BFTU and its affiliates used the 2012 May Day commemorations to call for a living wage and a departure from the current 'minimum wage regime', "At BFTU, we understand a living wage to entail income that enables workers to meet their needs (housing, food, clothing, utilities and transport) for an extended period of their livelihood", he explained.
