Inmates In Prison Rape

FRANCISTOWN: Once the prison doors slam for inmates, both convicted and awaiting trial, prisons become sexual jungles where there are predators and prey.

This came to the fore recently when Daniel Mxolisi Thandazela (26) appeared in court for allegedly raping another inmate.

He allegedly raped his victim on September 13 at the Francistown Centre for Illegal Immigrants (FCII), which is also used as a prison facility since the Francistown State Prison is still under construction. Thandazela is already serving a 10-year sentence for rape.
