Information Services driver commits suicide

A sorry sight greeted staff at the Mass Media Complex yesterday morning when they discovered one of their colleagues hanging dead from the stairs at their work premises.

The man in question, a driver with Information Services, which houses the Daily News, Kutlwano magazine and BOPA, hanged himself up spiralling stairs that lead up to the roof of the complex's training wing.  The man had been working at the Information Department for a little over three months after being transferred from government's printing services.  His reasons for committing suicide are currently unknown. Colleagues allege that he sent a relative a text message the previous night telling her that he was going to commit suicide at work.
The relative called the police, who spent some time patrolling the complex premises to no avail.

Around 8.30 am in the morning, some Mass Media Complex based workers were gathered around the training wing, as police cut the man down from where he had hung himself. The suicide comes days after another Information Services staffer, based in Tsabong, died in a car accident. The station commander of Gaborone West Police station was unavailable for comment at the time of going to press.
