Industrial Court not undermined-Batshu

The Minister of Labour and Home Affairs, Edwin Batshu has shrugged off claims by the Leader of Opposition, Botsalo Ntuane, that some employers are undermining the authority of the Industrial Court by not honouring orders.

Dismissing the claims in Parliament last week, Batshu explained that there are provisions of the law as well as mechanisms in place to ensure that court orders are complied with.

"In the first place, Section 20 (2) of the Trade Disputes Act, Cap 48:02 gives decisions or orders of the court the same force and effect as judgements or orders of the High Court.
