LOBATSE: The Lobatse High Court has issued a warrant of arrest against a traditional doctor set to testify in a murder case.

Traditional healer Thabo Samorobe is expected to testify in case where former prison warder Agisanyang Motukwa together with Daniel Sime and Gaolatlhe Thusang are accused of the murder of Agisanyang's father, Motlhankana Motukwa on August 12, 2008 at Ntlhantle Village. Samorobe is not the only one who is forced to give evidence in the case. Earlier this week, Thusang's girlfriend spent a few days in custody, after the same court issued a warrant of arrest against her. Samorobe's previous disappearance has forced the case to be adjourned until August.
Those who have given evidence include government pathologist Kaone Mobaka, who testified that his examination of the corpse showed that dark discolouration was noticed on the deceased's upper chest, scalp and neck. Mobaka told court that the discolouration could be as a result of strangulation or the decomposition process.
He said that if the examination was carried on a fresh body, the discolouration could have meant that pressure was applied to the affected areas and became bruised. Mobaka added that upon further examination of the body, he noticed that the tongue was clutched between the teeth, suggesting that it could have been a result of pressure being applied on the neck.

However, Mobaka said the result of the tongue being clutched between the teeth could not be attributed to pressure on the neck. "Gases that are produced after death may also push the tongue forward and clutch between the teeth," Mobaka said.
