Over 30 exhibitors from the SADC region are expected to participate in the inaugural Tourism Expo Botswana slated for August 16-18th in Gaborone. The three-day trade and consumer event will attract over 3,000 visitors at the Game City Food Court and Terrace.

The expo is organised by Lalik Events, a citizen owned company specialising in organising and hosting industry related exhibitions that promote various sectors locally and regionally. According to Lebogang Moitoi, Head of Public Relations (PR) and Marketing at Lilac, the idea behind organising the expo was to enable companies in the SADC region to continuously market and promote themselves to potential travelers within the region. She said it has emerged that tourism is one of the key economic sectors in the region.

Moitoi said they intend to make the expo an annual event that will give local and regional tourism operators an opportunity to promote themselves to the local market in Botswana whom are avid travellers within the SADC region. "The vision is to grow the Tourism Expo Botswana to be one of the leading advertising platforms for the tourism industry locally and within the region," reads a statement from Lalik. Moitoi further said the expo would be a platform to initiate business talks between regional tour operators and groups with the local tour operators in Botswana.
