The director of the department, Mabuse Pule has said that during the next two weeks, the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) will be training 16 senior Botswana officers who will be expected to drill their juniors in the security exercise. The second part of the training will involve 75 staff members from across the country.

Pule explained that apart from immigration staff, other trainees are top management officers from organisations like Botswana Unified Revenue Services, Directorate of Intelligence and Security, the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime, Botswana Police and Botswana Defence Force. He said that through the IOM training, Botswana intends to improve its capacity in dealing with issues of border protection, migration policies, passport verification and security matters like human trafficking.
