I'm not militarising govt - Khama

Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) president and state President Ian Khama has rebutted claims that he is militarising the civil service by slotting army personnel into top government positions.

Addressing a rally in Old Naledi where he launched party candidate Kagiso Molatlhegi yesterday, President Khama, a former army commander, said that the media has been accusing him of filling government departments with soldiers. He said he has only brought in two soldiers.

"I have brought in only two people - one in Office of the President (Colonel Masilo) and another (Isaac Kgosi) at the DIS (Directorate of Intelligence Services)," he said.
