I'm happy with special constables - seretse

Provided you stayed out of Tsimako's arm's reach, it was a good day at the Town Hall when 'Ndelu' exchanged views with folks on crime, ex-convicts, feedback and so following writes correspondents Gale Ngakane and Pini Bothoko

FRANCISTOWN: It was a candid, relaxed and open meeting of government departments under the Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security at the Francistown Civic Centre on Thursday last week. The main attraction of the day, Minister Ramadeluka Seretse, walked in just after 5pm, the time the meeting was to start and summed it up well when he said it was a day of exchanging ideas with employees in the departments."This is not a usual meeting," Seretse said. "We must always remember that if you are given a task or responsibility, you must always go back to your constituents and given them feedback."

Time-keeping was of the utmost importance at this meeting, with opening remarks allocated only two minutes and the speaker having to be as punctual as a crowing cock. The District Commissioner, Cordelliah Mpape, was given the task of introducing the top table that was made up of the Mayor Shadreck Nyeku and Members of Parliament for Francistown West and Francistown South, Tshelang Masisi and Wynter Mmolotsi, respectively. There was also the Commissioner of Police, Thebeyame Tsimako and Major General Gaolathe Galebotswe representing the Commander of the Botswana Defence Force (BDF), Tebogo Masire, who was reportedly out of the country.Similarly, the Department of Prisons and Rehabilitation was represented not by the Commissioner but by his deputy, Tebelelo Moabi, who at one point had her posterior slapped - rather unsuitably - by a laughing Tsimako.
