Illegal Zimbabweans elude police

MAHALAPYE: The police and the Botswana Defence Force personnel in Mahalapye continue to play an endless game of cat-and-mouse with illegal immigrants - mainly of Zimbabwean origin - in an effort to arrest them.

It has become a common sight to see illegal Zimbabweans being chased by police officers in the main mall of the village with the locals as on-lookers. In fact, this has turned out to be a game because the immigrants are often familiar faces to both the police and the residents.

The illegal immigrants often parade by the Charming Centre complex located between the Knock Out and Pep Stores in the mall. The Zimbabwean man illegally sells pirated CD's by Zimbabwean and South African artists especially the gospel melodies of the favourite Winnie Mashaba, Solly Moholo, Kenny and Matlakala and the Comforters.
