IEC releases voting timetable

The Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) secretary Gabriel Seeletso said yesterday that citizens living abroad go to the ballot early so that their votes can be collected and relayed to their constituencies in Botswana to be counted on October 16. IEC public relations officer, Mpho Maifala said they have 26 polling stations externally in Botswana's diplomatic missions. Meanwhile Maifala has said that poll staff like returning officers and security officers will vote on September 29 to allow them to perform their duties on election day.
Tomorrow, the IEC will receive nominations for parliamentary and council candidates.Maifala said they will receive nominations in the 490 polling stations across the country for those vying for council seats. Nominations for parliamentary hopefuls will be held at constituency headquarters.
