FRANCISTOWN: President Ian Khama took his jesting pastime a step further when he told a packed tent at Tati Siding that he wished he could be walking down the aisle today (Friday), 11/11/11, because the day comes once in a hundred years.

"I had marked this day as my wedding day," Khama said. "I want a wife and my parents (also wanted me to have a wife), but I could not get married because of some situations."

Speaking at the official opening of the Tati Siding Clinic as well as a primary school and a new road, Khama said as a man, he also needed a wife by his side. However, circumstances did not allow it. He said he was not getting married today because he had to honour the invitation of Member of Parliament for Tati East, Guma Moyo.
