Hundreds witness installation of Malope II

The events started as early as 6:30am on Friday as Malope's mophato sang in jubilation. Most people knew what to expect on such an occasion but the air of anticipation and excitement was palpable to all. Ululations and whistles followed as six men bearing rifles on their shoulders escorted Malope to his chair in the middle of the crowd where he later turned to wave to the excited witnesses showing off his new 'blanket.'
He majestically held his just-received spear and shield. The rifle men remained on "guard" as different speakers gave Malope words of encouragement.After performing his duty, Kgosi Sechele explained to the new kgosi the meaning of the many spots on the skin. He said they were symbolic of the many people Malope would be dealing with in discharging his duties and that the fact that the colours were slightly different was an indication that he would also deal with different characters in his reign.
