How Monare's committee fell

SEFHARE: Despite his lengthy address at the 19th elective congress of the Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) National Youth Executive Committee (NYEC), heaping praise on Vice-President Mompati Merafhe, the writing was on the wall for Bontsi Monare.

With his committee failing to submit a report when the congress needed it, his loss of the youth chairmanship was a foregone conclusion.

The majority of the youth unanimously agreed that the agenda be halted and a new committee be voted into office. The congress was the first in the history of the BDP at which an outgoing committee did not present a report. It was also the first to pass a motion of no confidence against a youth committee.
