The man, who attempted suicide after killing his girlfriend in front of their teenage son, is believed to be recovering at Thamaga Primary Hospital.

The 42-year-old man killed his 39-year-old girlfriend in front of their 13-year-old son on Tuesday night at Kumakwane village. Thamaga police station commander superintendent Moses Kwarare said the suspect is recovering from injuries he sustained from the suicide attempt.

“He sustained injuries on the neck from the wire that he wanted to hang himself with,” Kwarare said.

Following the death of his girlfriend the suspect left for Gabane where members of the public alerted the police after realising his plan to commit suicide.

“The suspect will be arraigned before Molepolole Magistrate’s Court after full recovery,” Kwarare said.

He added that the suspect was already a convict before the Kumakwane incident for the murders of his previous girlfriend and her uncle years ago in Mahalapye.  He further stated that both the deceased and the suspect are from Gulubane village.
