Homosexuality is not a matter to be debated

This is according to Botswana Network on Ethics, Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) chairman, Tshiamo Rantao, who has strongly criticised an approach where it is debated if homosexuality should be recognised or not in village Kgotlas
He was speaking during an International Human Rights Commemoration day in Gaborone over the weekend. "It is not a matter to be discussed and decided upon in a kgotla meeting. That approach is wrong and is self serving," he said. Rantao said that it should be understood that BONELA has always advocated for no violence and discrimination against someone due to their sexual orientation.

"We are not stating whether we like homosexuals or not. We are saying let us not discriminate against, them because still they are human beings and have a right to protection. It is their human right," he said.
