Home Affairs clears Omang backlog

People who applied for the national IDs (Omang) by the end of last month are advised to collect their cards.

This includes both applicants who were renewing their IDs and those who were applying for the first time. The Department of Labour and Home Affairs says  it has cleared the backlog from the end November backwards and is ready to issue the cards.

The department's public relations officer, Letso Mpho says they devised strategies to clear the backlog that had accumulated due to technical problems they had. He points out that they had problems with scanners, which were broken down causing a glitch in the workflow. The problem has since been solved, he says.
