Herdsman escapes the hangman

FRANCISTOWN: The Francistown High Court found a Machumu herdsman not guilty of murder but convicted him for manslaughter.

Bashikile Gatisang was initially charged with a single count of the murder of Galenkile Luke on June 26, 2004 at Machumu village.

On the fateful evening, some people were entertaining themselves drinking beer and the accused arrived at the yard carrying a bag containing raw donkey meat. One of the witnesses pleaded with Gatisang to take the meat out of the yard because it had a foul smell.
