Hazy conditions caused by fires

The hazy-cum-cloudy conditions that have been experienced in Gaborone and its environs in the past two days could be due to veldt fires somewhere in the Kweneng District.

Olebogeng Molosiwa of the Meteorological Services explained that the accumulation of smoke in the atmosphere, coupled with some moisture particularly in the mornings, is responsible for the phenomenon.  With the morning wearing-off, the cloudiness has been giving way to hazy conditions.

He however, added that the conditions are not hazardous to humans and other organisms.
