Local non-governmental organisation (NGO), Habitat For Humanity has seen the opportunity to cash in on P12 million from two pilot housing projects with the Kweneng and Southern District councils go up in smoke, after both clients decided to terminate the contracts citing delays.

At a recent media-come-together in Kweneng, the Kweneng District Council Executive Secretary, Wazha Tema, revealed that they had terminated the contract for 100 houses for the needy with Habitat, because it had failed to complete the project in 12 months as per the contract agreement.

Tema also revealed that his council has had to employ individual builders in various locations in Kweneng to complete the project.  He said Habitat had human resource challenges, but the Council stepped in and supervised the project to completion.
