Guidance teachers complain of 'straining' workload

FRANCISTOWN: While Guidance and Counselling is not a core and examinable subject, its teachers lament their "straining workload".

The issue was raised on Monday at Tati River Lodge during a consultative meeting on alcohol and drug abuse prevention.

Akanyang Mpolokang, a senior guidance teacher at Goldmine Junior Secondary School said she still has to meet all the requirements of the subject even when it is not examinable. She has to make sure that there is a programme based on the needs of the students.
