Students at the Gaborone Technical College (GTC) have turned down a meeting with the Minister of Education, Jacob Nkate, intended to discuss their boycott of classes.

Students refused to follow instructions written by permanent secretary, Festinah Bakwena, on behalf of the minister that the students should go back to classes immediately.

According to the student representative council (SRC) president, Kelemogile Ramasu, the issues that they had raised with the ministry were not addressed. "It is true we have not gone back to classes. The students have refused to allow the SRC to meet the minister on Friday at his offices because they want him to address all the students at the college," Ramasu said.
