Grief As Govt Repossesses Plots

Friday was panic day for some Gaborone residents who queued up at the Department of Lands' offices in a last ditch effort to rescue their business and residential plots.

The Department of Lands is taking away 483 plots in Gaborone alone after the owners failed to develop them according to the Department of Lands requirements. The plots will be re-allocated.

The names of the defaulters were published on the government Daily News on Friday. The defaulters were requested to see government lawyers to show cause why their plots should not be forfeited and re-allocated. They have been given 30 days notice.
