Green Loop environmental consultancy is poised to host their first annual sustainability and ESG summit under the theme, ‘Forging a sustainable path’.

The Summit will be held at the Royal Aria on November 22 to 23. The event is poised to become a pivotal moment in the nation's quest to understand, embrace, and implement sustainability practices, encompassing Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks. Green Loop Managing Director, Lindiwe Modise, speaking at a press conference recently emphasized the urgency of this Summit in light of Botswana's sustainability commitments.

She stated, "Our nation has made a 15% commitment to carbon neutralization by 2030 as part of the United Nations agenda. To achieve this goal, it is imperative that we develop, implement, and monitor sustainability frameworks. This summit is a crucial step in our journey toward sustainability." According to Modise, there will be various sectors participating including public and private organisations. The list of speakers includes prominent figures from both local and international domains, experts from renowned organisations such as the United Nations (UN), Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) and potentially the World Economic Forum (WEF). It is a platform for all those invested in Botswana's future to engage with sustainability and ESG concepts “The Botswana Sustainability and ESG Summit 2023 is a significant step forward in Botswana's journey toward sustainability, and it promises to be an eye-opening experience for all participants. With global pressures and expectations mounting, the nation's commitment to embracing sustainability and ESG principles is more crucial than ever,” she added.
