Granny demands Checkers respect

An elderly woman, Daisy Bussey, aged 83, is demanding compensation from Game City Checkers Supermarket (Shoprite) after she was knocked down when a worker pushing a shopping trolley hit her on the side of his left leg near the knee joint.

Bussey is also demanding a public apology for poor customer relations that she says she suffered at the hands of the chain store. Medical records indicate that she sustained injuries after being knocked down by a shopping trolley on the left knee and fell down on the right shoulder in November 2005. After the incident, she complained of pain in the left knee and right infra-clavicular and shoulder pains - restricting her movement of the right shoulder joint.

Her right deltoid muscle was swollen and painful on movement. She visited the Pro-Health Medical Clinic of Gaborone. In the process of repeated medical examinations, she was referred to an Orthopaedic surgeon for another treatment. In November 2005, Physiotherapist Ancent Muli recommended she undergo physiotherapy for about three months.
