Govt to slash wage bill

Government plans to shave five percent off the civil service wage bill every year for the next three years. This was revealed by Finance and Development Minister, Kenneth Matambo when presenting the 2012-2013 budget in Parliament yesterday.

This move was taken as part of a raft of aggressive measures to tighten its spending in the wake of uncertainties regarding future revenue sources.
